HOW WE WILL BUILD YOUR WEBSITE
Website design
We will design a website that is clean-looking, functional, and attractive to potential clients.
Based on the pages of your site, we will provide a wireframe mockup that is focused on the website structure, rather than the final design. This wireframe will give us a better idea of the website architecture.
After the wireframe is approved, we can begin narrowing down design options. If you have a few specific sites that you would like to emulate, or if you have a certain design in mind, we can work from that. If you’d like to see a number of potential designs to choose from, we can provide suggestions.
Once the basic design has been chosen, we will then provide three design mockups based on the screen sizes used: desktop, tablet, and mobile (see responsive design section below).
Website back-end development (CMS)
The website will be built with WordPress, employing built-in functionality as well as add-on functionality through the use of plugins. The back-end interface will be clean and simple to use for you, the end user, to make content updates and to add pages as needed.
In order to ensure that there is a smooth transition between your old website and your new website, we will initially build the new site as a development site that is not visible to the general public. We will build this development website on our own web hosting, but we will need access to your web hosting as soon as possible in order to ensure that your web host is up to spec for the new site. Most web hosts are built with all the current tools necessary to host a WordPress site, such as built-in PHP and MySQL, but there are still some web hosts that have not yet upgraded. If that is the case, we can either work with your web host to get the hosting architecture upgraded, or we will work with you to find a new web host for your website.
Custom development
The design will be tailored to your needs and expectations, and built with your potential clients in mind. As a few examples, your site may be built with a portfolio or gallery showcasing your past work, a video section with how-to videos demonstrating quick tips for your customers, or other rich media. The features added to your website in this step will be based on your requirements.
While it is a good idea to list all potential features at this point, you can rest assured that the WordPress platform is versatile enough to add on features at a later date, if you wish to hold off on some features until later, or if some features only become needed at a later time.
Responsive design
Website visitors will be able to easily browse through past projects on a smartphone or another mobile device, just as easily as on a tablet or a desktop computer. This will be accomplished via responsive design, which presents the exact same website to users whether they’re on desktop, tablet, or mobile, but with the design optimized best for each screen size. The advantage of using responsive design over adding on a separate mobile-only website is having no duplication of content, one less website to maintain, and no hidden content for mobile.
Content filling
This step depends on receiving content from you in the form of photographs and graphics, as well as current copy concisely describing your services, your past projects, and your clients. You, after all, are the expert of your business and know it best. We will provide any assistance needed in guiding you through content development, such as a questionnaire or an interview.
Once we’ve received the content, we will go ahead with filling out the website’s main pages with the text and pictures you’ve provided. We will also proofread the content before the site goes live and make all simple corrections such as typos immediately, and for any other substantial corrections needed we will rely on your expertise for help.
Quality control & testing
Before the website is ready to go live, we will test it out in all major browsers and make corrections as needed. We will ensure that there are no broken links or images, and we will ensure that every feature of the site works correctly.
After this last step is complete, and you’re ready to sign off, we can take the site live.
